ICT plays a catalytic role in enhancing learning in classroom and beyond…It enhances scope of education by facilitating mobile learning and inclusive education. It facilitates research and scholarly communication. Impact of ICT and its potential for the education field is manifold.
On 19th of August 2019 in the sixth period I have taught English in class four for forty minutes. Before the actual session, students were asked, “How will you find the meaning for difficult words?” They said, “If we have dictionary we will see there and if not we will ask others if they know”. Then I said, “Its good idea. Now here after I will teach you how to use smart phones to find the meanings for difficult words”.

Students were asked to read the poem, ‘”No More Water”. They read in turn, a stanza each. They underlined the difficult words for them. Then I have shown them you tube video on how to find meaning using smart phones.

Then again I demonstrated them step by step on how to find meanings using smart phone practically. After that they were let to work in pairs using smart phones.

I have used smart phones, laptop, sound boxes, microphones, YouTube video and projector for this session. Students really enjoyed the class. They were happy and fully engaged in the lesson.

They were sharing and enthusiastically engaged in their classroom activity. It was a successful and progressive learning. They promised that, here after they will use their parents’ cell phones while reading if they don’t know the meanings.

  1. My dear friends (sirs and madams), this is my second post for the first month. Here I have used laptop, sound box, micro phones, projector, you tube video and smart phones to teach meanings for difficult English vocabularies/words of their text book. This is the advancement in my students using ICT facilities in their classroom learning.

  3. Sir it seems you have taught your English class incredibly, but as of the education policies, children are not allowed to use or bring smart phones in the school, so in that case, I am in a doubt how it would be possible. If they ust it at home, it is another option.

    1. Thank you so much madam for your concern. Even its my concern too. But what I did is, I didn't ask them to bring from their house. I have around five phones old, new and kids tabs. I have also borrowed mobiles from my friend then I have shared British dictionary in all the cells and made the arrangements ready before hand.
Then once I started my class, I demonstrated and gave the cells to the students. Once the class is over and I have finished teaching, I gave back the cells to their respective owners.
In my case its easy and manageable because I have only 12 students in the class. So that's how I have managed madam.
      Thank you

    1. It's cost less sir. I being English teacher I have many downloaded items to show and teach in English class. If we have one thing in our cell say like dictionary, we can share to other cells and use it. No data or wifi needed sir.
Why don't you try this one sir.

  7. Sir....from write ups it was very innovative ideas to use smart phone as TLM tools in our context. You also gave proper instruction...however in my opinion will all the children have smart phone or not? If not it would be discrimination for some which would demotivate their learning. Other way round...I also thought that if you have assigned the task in group it would be better. It was indeed a nice lesson!!!

I don't encourage students to play games in cells. Even I don't allow my kids to play too much. Playing sometime is inline with time and technology.

  13. Teaching Poem with the help of ICT is one of the most interesting things I have come across.
I have also tried it a few times and children really understand.
The Google explains it so nicely that it doesn't live anything unexplained.
If it was just us teaching in the classes it would have not much of impact that the ICT teaching does.
    Keep up sir.

  23. It is a wonderful approach that you have taken to teach your students. However, I have got little reservation about using smart phones in the school by our students because they aren't allowed to use phones in the school premises by our education policy. So I am doubtful how you could success in using smart phones in the school by our students. In general, I stand by valuable idea to let students use smart phones ...
